"Possessing Rhode Island's most authentic blues voice...whiskey-tinged, and as rich as the black Mississippi mud - Lyon is known as the elder statesman of Rhode Island blues."
--Scott Freeman, Providence Journal Sunday Magazine
One of the primary things that sets Ken Lyon apart from most other musicians is his ability to play many diverse styles of folk and blues music. Add to that his vast knowledge of American music history, an incredible voice, and a stage presence that only comes from performing for over 45 years in front of every kind of crowd, and you can be assured that your audience is in for a very special show.
Performing on 6- and 12-string guitar, 5-string banjo, and occasionally electric guitars, Ken is at home playing slide, finger picking, or strumming chords as he leads an audience in the vanishing art of group singing....
KEN LYON, AMERICAN FOLK MASTER- Ken's acoustic show (as a solo, duo or trio) concentrates on either American folk music, country blues, or a combination of both genres, sprinkled with his original songs written in these traditions. Depending on your audience, Ken will enhance the music by providing a historical context for each piece or can simply "let the music do the talking...."
KEN

faithfully recreates the sound of the band in their heyday and performs
the bulk of their Columbia Records album as well as interpretations of selections
of other phases of Ken's career, carefully selected covers, and brand new,
as-yet-unrecorded originals.
